I come to the end of this pier
A single light to my rear
As I look down to that liquid drear
It is not death I fear
It is the nonstop drip of tears
I crept along this decrepit structure
Careless of the cracks in its texture
I bet my life that it would not fracture
A crunching of my body would rupture
I looked for a face more wizen
But saw not a soul on the horizon
My breathing was all I could enliven
But still the screams from behind arisen
The sounds of crashing waves was replaced
By the sounds of siren, wails and distaste
And as the footsteps turned to foot chase
And their hands reached out for my waist
I skipped into that drear for a quick taste
In cold void I feel safe
A muted noise was all I could face
