Sea People

October 30, 2024 - less than a minute read

A view looking out towards the sea from a beach

Gaze at Ancient Anatolia
land of blazing bronze
The forgotten utopia
What killed this icon?

The sea people
Unseen people
Swept out from the waves
Pillaged and made slaves

They took from a great place
They turned trade routes to disgrace
They made scholars captive
Only survive when adaptive

Great Ramesses of egypt
Hope for society
Civil service his edict
Man of the greatest piety

In came the sea
Drowned all we see
Mixed blood with sand
Perhaps you begin to understand

All of our progress
All of our knowledge
All of our worth
The sea people take

But the sea people don’t come from just sea
They come from ordinary people like you and me
They come from us when we accept fake truths
They come from countries that march their troops

The sea people come from mobs, gods, and poisonous frogs
From plague, rage, and keeping people in cage
From autocracy, theocracy, democracy, hypocrisy
From the very fear of the sea, and the people who might hide beneath
From division, they rise up from hell through the cracks of a crumbling society

It is said that progress is inevitable
Those that believe that are gullible
The only difference between us and Anatolia
Is that our sea people probably won’t come from the sea
